A cardiologist combining clinical excellence with cutting-edge research

Dr Dominic Vickers graduated from the University of New South Wales with Distinction, completing his Bachelor of Medicine alongside an Honours research degree. He went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine (with Distinction) and a Master of Public Health (with Excellence) also from UNSW.

He completed advanced cardiology training at Prince of Wales Hospital, Port Macquarie Base Hospital, and Sutherland Hospital, gaining broad experience across the spectrum of cardiovascular disease.

As a Conjoint Associate Lecturer at UNSW Sydney, Dr Vickers is actively involved in teaching the next generation of medical professionals. He is accredited to perform CT coronary angiograms and transoesophageal echocardiograms, and has presented research at multiple cardiology conferences.

Yes, a referral from your GP or specialist is required to see Dr Vickers. This ensures continuity of care and allows Dr Vickers to review your medical history before your appointment. Medicare rebates also require a valid referral.
Please bring your GP referral letter, Medicare card, any relevant previous test results (ECGs, blood tests, imaging), a list of current medications, and your private health insurance details if applicable.
A stress echocardiogram combines ultrasound imaging of your heart with exercise (usually on a treadmill) or medication-induced stress. This allows Dr Vickers to assess how your heart functions under increased demand and detect any areas of reduced blood flow that may indicate coronary artery disease.
Yes, consultations with Dr Vickers are eligible for a Medicare rebate with a valid GP referral. Some diagnostic tests may also attract a Medicare rebate. Please contact the relevant practice for specific information about fees and gap payments.

Dr Vickers welcomes calls and emails from GPs, non-GP specialists, and allied health professionals to discuss a patient or answer clinical questions.

Urgent Referrals

Dr Vickers is happy to accept urgent referrals and welcomes calls from referring doctors to discuss cases directly. For time-sensitive cases, please contact the relevant practice by phone so the referral can be appropriately triaged.

Reports & Correspondence

Consultation letters and investigation reports are generally sent to the referring doctor on the day of each appointment. If you have not received correspondence within 2 days or have a clinical query, please contact the relevant practice directly.
